Fashion Profile: Boutique Harajuku

Japan town in San Francisco, a place you can participate in a Japanese culture. Restaurants, café shops, book stores, supermarkets, and gift shops where people can spend time with friends and family hanging out there. It is very comfy and cozy when I every time walk there. There is a fashion retail store, Boutique Harajuku, specializes in higher end pieces from smaller house designers.

 

The owner is a Korean and was an AAU Fashion Design graduated student. She said, “This store is to be if you want to grab some cute and fashionable trendy pieces and look like a Tokyo or European hipster”. All pieces of garments and accessories are from Europe, Japan, and Spain including Copcopine, Save the Queen, Fornarina, J Brand, Voom, Custo, etc is here. Their hot items are jeans, sexy tops, and cocktail dresses etc..

 

 

Personally, I love their jeans because the style, fitting, materials, and design (with embroidered/ Swarovski crystals) just fit me very well and comfortable. However, most clothes are running a petite-side; you had better be short and skinny. Since it’s Tokyo and European fashion inspired, please don’t expect it to be cheap. It is a boutique, and no boutique sells an article of clothing that starts at $20, so expect things to be $90-$150 and even more.

• Sad: Last week, one of my very close sale assistants was laid off from Chanel boutique. I could not believe it because he was a nice person and being so kind and friendly to all customers. I have to say even Chanel is the most well known brand in the world; they ready bow to the worsening economy. Good luck! My friend.

Spring Flowers

Recently San Francisco’s weather seems to be very unstable; it has been raining and freezing for days. Every morning when I woke up, I always expected to see a warm and smile sunny day, but I felt disappointed and lost from these days. Personally, I do not like raining day because it makes me so down with the day. In addition, with those heavy school assignments coming more and more, I sometimes feel that I cannot breathe well; school is driving me crazy.

 

How can I make me to feel better?

Yes….going shopping to see beautiful stuff.

 

When I saw this pair of shoes from Christian Louboutin 2009-spring collection, I could not take my eyes off it. The soft pink color, the petal silhouette, and the red 4 inches sole, I started to dream as someone wear it with a skirt; the movement would be very feminine and ravishing; it told me “spring is just around the corner”.

 

 

 

 

AAU Fashion Department Symposium

Who: Gladys Perint Palmer and Simon Ungless

AAU invited all students who are from Fashion Department to attend this symposium for a speech from Gladys Perint Palmer, Executive Director of Fashion, and Simon Ungless, Director of Fashion. Gladys talked about how AAU helped her to establish the new website{www.gladysperintpalmer.com}, and she introduced the content from the website and showed what she has done for her illustration portfolios.

Gladys shared and explained that how and what she saw and observed inspirations from those objections by Fashion designers, celebrities, and currently issues to translate into her drawings. Some of portfolios were created by Gladys’s humor and opposite thoughts to see a Fashion World.

Simon also gave a speech to talk about how he has been an associate with Alexander McQueen and show his collections to students. It was also a preview of the graduate collections to be shown at the Academy’s Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Show on Feb 13^th.

 

What was Gladys wearing? I saw that she was wearing a black turtleneck top with black color trouser pant, and shoes were a pair of black loafer; outwear was a long and satin-shine burgundy color coat. She was also carrying with a gold color tote bag. I think that the way she wearing is appropriately with her age. Since she has blonde hair with a gold color tote bag, those makes her looking is full of youthful vigor. Of course, the burgundy color long coat makes her with confidence and power as a Queen of AAU.

Finally, with student’s trend from the event, I saw that most of them wearing jeans, flat shoes, boots, sweaters, scarves, and coats. I think leggings and flat shoes are still a trend for students; it is no doubt because that is what a student feels most comfortable style.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*Beyonce*

As a well-known super star in the world, Beyonce has been a fashion icon and top idol to the mass for her works. Personally, I like her sweet face, powerful voice, and voluptuous body looking. When I saw her time with Destiny’s Child, or the least new solo album, I think that Beyonce has not changed too much with her style and consistently keeping the appearance as she being a celebrity. People recognize her as a hot or a sexy girl because that is how she has been created an image from the media or a company’s packaging strategy. I mean she was wearing less and showing her body more at the past.

 

The music video, Halo, shows her style with a simple, quality, and fresh looking, and it is not showing off too much high-fashion stuff and displaying the sexy, so I feel that she is trying to appeal at her appropriate age now. 

 

 

Definitely, Beyonce looks better than before because in the past she was chubby. I believe that the more reputation you get the more suitable and perfect image and style you have to be, especially being a super star.
